Smartphone manufacturing giant BlackBerry has today announced that the company has partnered with Delhi based telecommunications company Optiemus Infracom Ltd, to launch BlackBerry’s software and service licenses for the manufacturing of secure Android smartphones in more global market including India, Sri lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh.
Under this agreement, BlackBerry will provide the licenses of its software and security services suite, as well as brand assets associated with Optiemus.
Alex Thurber, MD for Mobility Solutions at BlackBerry stated that “Optiemus Infracom Ltd, is our sole partner for designing and manufacturing of Manufacturing smartphones for India and other neighboring countries.” “Optiemus will design, manufacture, advertise, sell and provide customer support for Blackberry smartphone devices that will offer the full BlackBerry experience, including the Android secure software.” He added.
Alex added “India is a very important market for BlackBerry, so we are delighted our latest licensing partnership will extend the BlackBerry software experience to more customers and support the Indian government’s ‘Make In India’ agenda. This is an important milestone in our strategy to put ‘the smart in the phone’, providing state-of-the-art security and device software on a platform relevant to mobile customers, with more localization”
BlackBerry will continue to provide and develop it’s software and security solutions and maintain our BlackBerry security software secure, including regular checkup of Android security updates on our platforms. Chairman of Optiemus Infracom Ltd, Ashok Gupta stated “With our pre-to-pre solution in the mobile ecosystem in manufacturing, sell, distribution and support, we are confident that our journey with BlackBerry will go a long and successful one”.
The terms and agreement with Optiemus Infracom Ltd is expanding on an existing relationship announced in November 2016, which includes distribution of BlackBerry’s DTEK series of Android smartphones with BlackBerry Security software inside.
