Xiaomi a Chinese smartphone manufacturing company, has today announced that Xiaomi is not going to attend Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year.

This step is really surprising, as it was considered that Xiaomi would be attending this event. A Barcelona-based Mobile World Congress (MWC) is among the most important events for the global mobile industry, which attract more than millions of visitors across the world, and it has a reputation as a place to show off the latest development made in mobile.

Last year Xiaomi used this event to present the Mi5, a Xiaomi’s new flagship smartphone, through a press event that was broadcast live. In 2015, the company increased it’s appearance in the western world, when Hugo Barra, head of international business for Xiaomi, joined the interview on a stage, by explaining out more about what it’s company and its business doing.

Hugo has announced it’s retirement this week after a season of 3.5 year’s – as he moved to Facebook to lead it’s VR efforts. It may be the one reason why Xiaomi will not be at MWC or the other reason may be Xiaomi don’t have any product to showcase in MWC or vice versa.
